ADMISSION TO MEDICAL STUDIES FOR EU CANDIDATES

 

A) PREPARATORY YEAR

Since in “Dunarea de Jos” University of Galati the instruction language is Romanian,the candidates  from European countries will be registered for  Bachelor degree  studies only after graduating the Romanian language preparatory year on the basis of a certificate proving Romanian  linguistic competences; during the preparatory year the candidates will learn the basic Romanian language vocabulary as well as the specific vocabulary needed for the future studies (anatomy, physics, chemistry, etc.).

 Students attending the Romanian preparatory course are required to pay the annual fee of 1980 Eur.

IMPORTANT! To be able to attend the preparatory year, a candidate from EU member state should have first his/her high school diploma evaluated by the Romanian Ministry of Education.

Documents requested for High school diploma evaluation
  • birth certificate - certified translation
  • passport - copy
  • application form (https://cnred.edu.ro/ro/echivalare-diplome-de-bacalaureat-obtinute-in-strainatate in 2 copies)
  • Copy of the baccalaureate diploma and related high school grades transcripts, if they are in Romanian/English/French/Spanish/Italianor
    or
    Certified copy of the baccalaureate diploma and related high school grades transcripts, if they are in any other foreign language. These documents must be endorsed by the Hague Apostil.
  • health certificate in an international language attesting that the applicant does not suffer from contagious/chronic diseases
  • invoice of  the file processing fee 50 lei. (payable as shown below)

The certificate of recognition of studies will be issued by the National Centre for Recognition and Equivalence of Diplomas (CNRED) (See also www.cnred.edu.ro); CNRED releases a Certificate attesting that high school diploma obtained abroad is OK and entitles the candidate to attend higher education studies in Romania.

B) AFTER COMPLETION OF THE PREPARATORY YEAR

B.1) Citizens of the Member States of the European Union, of the countries belonging to the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation, after completion of the preparatory year, may be admitted to medical studies based on the evaluation of their school performance and personal achievements, after recognition of their studies in the countries of origin by the Ministry of Education   (see A above). The evaluation of the application files is carried out by a faculty committee, which will analyze the documents contained in the candidate's competition dossier.

The fee for the file processing  is 50 Eur.

Selection Criteria

1. To have passed examinations in biology or chemistry at the baccalaureate exam

The minimum grade for the baccalaureate exam must be at least 70% of the maximum theoretical grade of the exam in the country where he / she graduated the high school.

2. Proof of knowledge of the Romanian language (graduation diploma of the preparatory year or certificate of linguistic competence).

3. A CV containing the skills or experience in the medical-pharmaceutical or related fields.

4. Letters of recommendation or proof that he has performed volunteer activities in the medical-pharmaceutical or related fields.

The application files for registration in the study programs in Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, General Medical Assistance, Midwives, are submitted to the Secretariat of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy in the period 01.04.2019 - 26.07.2019.

Documents required

- CV Europass completed in Romanian - 2 copies;

- Copy of the baccalaureate diploma and related high school grades transcripts, if they are in Romanian/English/French/Spanish/Italian  or

- Certified copy of the baccalaureate diploma and related high school grades transcripts, if they are in any other foreign language .

- Passport –copy

- Birth certificate-2 certified translations;

- Health certificate stating that the applicant does not suffer from any contagious/chronic disease.

- Recommendation letters or proof that they have volunteered in the medical-pharmaceutical or related fields - 2 certified translations.

- Passport-size photos: 6 pcs.

Once the candidate is declared eligible for medical studies and admitted, he/she will have to pay tuition fees of 5000 Euro/year.

B.2) Citizens of the Member States of the European Union, of the countries belonging to the European Economic Area and of the Swiss Confederation may be admitted to medical studies under the same conditions as Romanian candidates i.e. after having passed an admission test organized in the second half of July every year; this is a multiple-choice type test as follows:

Organic chemistry and Biology (11th grade of high school) Pharmacy Medicine and Pharmacy The final admission average is calculated as:
- 100% test grade;
Multiple-choice test, 100 questions, in 3 hours of the subjects:
Organic chemistry – 60 questions and Biology (11th grade of high school) - 40 questions.
Organic chemistry and Biology (11th grade of high school) Dentistry The final admission average is calculated as:
- 100% test grade;
Multiple-choice test, 100 questions, in 3 hours of the subjects:
Biology (11th grade of high school) - 60 questions and  Organic chemistry - 40 questions.
Medicine
Biology (11th grade of high school) General Nursing The final admission average is calculated as:
- 100% test grade;
Multiple-choice test, 100 questions, in 3 hours of the subjects:
Biology (11th grade).
Midwives

 

The documents requested for the admission tests are the same as for the preparatory year + Romanian language certificate. Period of application: the same as for the Romanian candidates.

If admitted, depending on the final admission average grade, an EU candidate may have to pay tuition fees as Romanian students (1000 Eur/year) or even no fees at all (state budget-funding).
