Admission criteria for Preparatory year in the Romanian language 
for the academic year 2024-2025

 

The Preparatory year in the Romanian language is intended for foreign citizens who do not know Romanian and wish to attend undergraduate or postgraduate studies in Romania.

The preparatory year can be accessed by EU, EEA, SC and NON-EU candidates if they meet the following requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school in the country of origin and recognized by the Ministry of Education. The list of secondary school diplomas recognised by the Ministry of Education can be checked by accessing the attached file: Lista diplomelor recunoscute de ME
  • For EU, EEA and SC citizens: the original diplomas from Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal and Cyprus will be endorsed with the Hague Apostille. The list of countries for which the authentication of study documents is required can be checked at the following address: List of countries for which the authentication of study documents is requested - CNRED (edu.ro)
  • For NON-EU citizens: Baccalaureate and Bachelor's diplomas will be authenticated, as appropriate, or will be accompanied by an authenticity certificate issued by the competent authorities of the country of origin; the authentication will be applied by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and the Romanian Embassy/Consular Office in that country or by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country and its Embassy/Consular Office in Romania and the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; for countries where there are no diplomatic missions of Romania or which do not have diplomatic missions in Romania, the study documents will be endorsed by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the issuing country.   • For a Preparatory year followed by a Bachelor’s degree, the final admission average will be 100% the baccalaureate exam average and for a Preparatory year followed by a Master’s degree, the final admission average will be 100% the average of the Bachelor’s degree.
  • For candidates with educational documents issued in countries where the baccalaureate/equivalent examination average is not awarded, the overall average of the secondary school years will be taken into consideration instead of the baccalaureate average.
  • In the case of baccalaureate diplomas issued in Morocco, the average and marks obtained in the national examination are considered.
